CRCRC Winter Midwest Championship - Dustin Richards SPD

The CRCRC Winter Midwest Championships has long been the debut race of 2014. Regardless if a new contract was signed for 2014 or driver just wants to prove they are the ones to beat in the new year, the Midwest Championships are the proving ground for great racing. This race attracted over 450 entries. I ran 2wd and 4wd Mod and this is how it went down.

In 4wd I kept working on my 4wd and it never came around to exactly where I wanted it. My two best counting rounds using qual points were a 8 and a 10. Having 18 points I qualified 3rd in the B main.

In 2wd my car was constantly awesome from the warm up race on. With my two best counting runs from the 4 counting qualifiers a 11 and a 15. This gave me 26 points and I qualified 5th in the B

From the B main they bumped 2 into the A. In the B main I moved to second fairly quickly and knowing that was all I needed for a spot in the A Main, I worked just to maintain that position. When the finishing tone sounded I ended be second in the B Main bumping to the A Main.

In my 4wd B main it was a dog fight with a bunch of pro drivers who were all hungry for a spot in the A Main. My car was not quite where it needed to be and I made too many mistakes to bump to the A. When the finishing tone sounded I finished 3rd so close but not in the A Main show.

After the much anticipated A Mains of 2wd it was time to race with the best. From the 12th spot on the grid I got a 11 in A1. Again from 12th I got another 11 in A2. Knowing I would need a good finish for a good showing I put it all on the line in A3 and it paid off. I got a 7. With the 11 and 7 I finished 10th in the A Main of 2wd Modified extremely happy with the results.

My Hobbywing products ran awesome all weekend. I ran the XERUN 120A V3.1 ESC in both 2wd and 4wd. I ran a 6.5 XERUN V10 Competition Brushless Motor in my 4wd and a 8.5 XERUN V10 Competition Brushless Motor in my 2wd.

Part Numbers of the products I ran are
81020350 3.1 Speed Control
30401020035 6.5 4wd
30401020036 8.5 2wd
