SPD Dustin Richards On The Win!

You know it must be time for Halloween Races when your favorite Oktoberfest brew is back, you are begrudgingly piling up leaves, bonfires are here, and the nip is back in the air. Sparks Park hosted their Halloween Race last weekend and here is how it went down for Dustin. The event was extremely competitive. The event pulled in drivers from TLR, AE, Pro-Line, J-Concepts, AKA, Spectrum, Airtronics, and more.

 The TQs were reset in the third and final rounds of both 2wd and 4wd. In round three of 2wd he was TQ in 2wd going into the last run. Dustin had a great car and was excited, but managed to overdrive his car and an AE driver capitalized and reset TQ. This placed Dustin 2nd on the grid for the 2wd A Main. In round three of 4wd Dustin had not had the run he wanted. However his car got better every run. It was “clutch time” and he was able to run a perfect qualifier and take TQ by the narrow margin of six tenths of a second!

When it came time for mains Dustin's cars were the best they had been all day. In 2wd he took the lead approximately two minuets into the seven-minute main. Dustin was able to drive conservatively and protect the win. In 4wd he lead close to tone to tone. AE driver Nathan Clark charged hard and they swapped places in a few corners coming off the straight. However Dustin was able to regain the lead and pull away for the win. When the dust settled Dustin had taken three of the four trophies in the premier classes 2wd and 4wd mod.
