Champlin Dominates the Team Associated Stock Nationals at PDX RC Raceway & Hobbies
This past weekend, Matthew Gonzales traveled to Portland, Oregon, to do some "Motor Man" work, not for your average stock racer, but for reigning IFMAR 2WD World Champion Broc Champlin.

Having not raced a stock class since he was 14 years old, Broc adapted quickly to the HOBBYWING V10 G5 Torque Edition motors. Right from practice, he was at the top of the charts, but Dominic Paccione wasn't going to make it easy. The two traded fast laps all weekend, making for some exciting racing.
In 13.5 4WD, Broc put on a clinic. He TQ'd all four rounds of qualifying, set the fastest lap of the event with an 11.8-second lap, and looked nearly untouchable.
The 17.5 2WD class was a much closer fight. Broc opened qualifying with a TQ in Round 1, but after Round 2 it was clear some changes were needed. With a few setup adjustments, along with timing and gearing changes, Broc found another level and went on to TQ the remaining rounds, securing the overall TQ in both classes.
When it came time for the mains, Broc continued where he left off. He drove away in A1 of both classes, putting himself in position to wrap up the weekend early. A2 brought much closer racing, with Dominic pushing hard for the win in both 17.5 2WD and 13.5 4WD, but Champlin held him off to complete the sweep and take home victories in both classes.
Congratulations to Broc Champlin on an incredible weekend, and thank you to Kevin and everyone at PDX RC Raceway & Hobbies for putting on another outstanding event.
